SUBJECT: RUST RED: PROTOTYPE 1

The rust reds were the first trolls engineered. As such, they were originally created to be expendable foot soldiers, servants, and hard labor. They were made short live, immediately dieing upon reaching the age of fifty years. When the vast glub was sounded, destroying all troll control modules, the rust reds were quick to rise up under the command of one rust red known only as “the handmaiden” or “destruction’s right hand”.

It is unknown if the Handmaiden had any loyalties to the destroyer, however her incitement of the lowest bloods into full out rebellion, causing mass chaos, backing up major cities, destroying energy depots and disrupting communication actually indicates that she was acting on her own spite rather than with either the Imperial Condescension, or the Destroyer. Eventually it was decided to wipe out the rust reds by gathering them towards a central point, a nuclear power plants, and initiating a remote meltdown with plans that the explosion would seriously decimate and destroy the rust red population.

They were wrong.

Fifty percent of all rust reds in that explosion survived…and adapted. Rust reds, in nearly all cases now, are radioactive which has sparked telepathic talents, the ability to utilize raw radioactive material without damage, and dramatically increased lifespans. The issue now for rust reds is that most wigglers do not survive until their first molt, seriously reducing their reproductive rate. Some of the rust bloods caught in close proximity to the explosion also suffered horrendous burns and as such were placed in metal shells to protect their exposed muscles and bones.

The largest concentration of rust reds live under the control of the Handmaiden in a zone designated as “The Land of Tombs and Lava” where the radioactivity is too high for other species to live successfully with the exception of Leprechauns. The land is also noted for a large population of radioactive frogs that the rust reds seem to be fascinated with raising.

Rust reds to note are as followed:
The Handmaiden: The most powerful rust red and considered the “ruler” of the Land of Tombs and Lava. She is known to be cold and calculative with her eyes fixated on certain trolls for potential “strong” matesprits in which she can assure healthy wigglers unaffected by the radiation poison.

Damara Megido: The eldest descendant of the Handmaiden who was not caught in the explosion, having been on the outskirts of the radius of damage, thus affording her less mutation, however she still shows psionic potential now. She speaks a language now presumed dead in this region. She tends to be haughty, as cold as her mother, although has been known to be the worse kind of pervert, often sexually harassing trolls, verbally and physically, when given the chance.

Aradia Megido: Caught near ground zero, she suffered extensive damage and thus wears a metal shell over her body to protect her disfigured skin and form from additional damage. She is the youngest descendant of the Handmaiden, “sister” of Damara. The elder two are very protective of the younger who, although known to be creepy at times, loves to explore tombs and ruins to discover new artifacts of the past to study. Her lust for adventure is second to none and often has her straying away from home into the lands of other nearby troll lands. She is never parted from a few pet frogs which are often thrown about like projectiles.

If Earth Had Rings

First off, they would be really pretty to look at. They would also dominate the sky in both night and day at exactly the same place as they would never rise nor set. And at night you would see the Earth’s shadow swing across the rings, like in the 4th photo here.

However, life would be very different on Earth if this were the case. Nocturnal animals would have a hard time being nocturnal, as the light reflecting from the rings would illuminate the night.

Because we are closer to the Sun than Saturn is, the rings would be more rocky than ice, making them less bright but still pretty bright. In fact, you would see far less stars at night (living anywhere other than the equator or the arctic circle) because of the light pollution and not to mention ruin most meteor showers because of that.

During the day the rings would block sunlight in certain regions of the planet creating wild weather cycles and effecting plant life as well. So basically, they would be definitely pretty to look at but they would also make a whole lot of things screwy.
